Hola, the name’s David I. Stokes, but my pseudonym is Graffiti on Paper (GOP). Why? Because some people would consider Graffiti a form of art. Blunt. Vibrant. Risky. Skilled. Creative. Deep. All of which are characteristics I embody in my form of art, reporting; that’s where the “on Paper” part comes into play.
I’m unsure of my purpose, but I hope it’s my passion: to recognize underprivileged youth making a positive change in their community in a little project I created called The Urban Surge.
I’m an avid supporter of philanthropy. I volunteered for Meals on Wheels and previously volunteered with the AIDS marathon in Washington DC. I’m a fan of art and have an affinity for graffiti… well, not the illegal part. I also paint, design media graphics, travel immensely and make random, yet informative videos.
I received my Bachelor’s from Towson University in Mass Communication. There, I was also an active member of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), the Black Student Union (BSU), the host of TU Wake-Up Call on XTSR Radio and a Resident Assistant (RA). I’ve worked for Lockheed Martin, the Library of Congress, and Media Two. And God-willing I will be iSchool bound this Fall! I currently work for Library Systems and Services on Capitol Hill.
Enough about me, (how conceited, I used the word “I” thirteen times, not including what’s in these parentheses) finish exploring my blog and hopefully it will inspire you to: Get up! Get out! Make your mark on this world!

I thought I was busy. You are a busy young man. Go make your mark on this world. I love the picture – would have been even more amazed if you had taken it yourself.
LOL! at the picture comment Laura, haha but thanks for the support. We all should be busy making our mark on this world.
